Review: This Cook Book is a Healthy Marvel! the preparations are easy tasty and above all healthy! Great variety…Highly recommended…With family issues of need for lower fat/lower sugar diet, this cookbook offers easy and interesting recipes. I have tried several of the main dish recipes already and they have all been hits. Plus, one can figure out how to apply ideas in these recipes to others to modify them to be healthier. Excellent value!I am 52 years old my husband recently had a triple by-pass thus forcing us to change many bad food habits. Since the name Betty Crocker is enough to tell the consumer that it is a tried and true product I was very excited to see a healthy style cook book. Without hesitation I ordered it. I liked it so well I took it to my neighbor to look at. She then also purchased one. I have tried many recipes and love them all so far. This cookbook will be in my household for years to come and will someday look like my grandmother’s old Betty Crocker cookbook. This is a very good book on foods that are good for a healthy heart. I have added the book to my cooking library.I got this book about a year and a half ago, and although it’s not always the one I’m cooking from, a lot of my favorite and healthy recipies have come from it. Some of the ingredients can be a little tough to find, and there are a few recipes that need a little extra spicing up, but overall I’ve been extremely happy with everything I’ve made from it! The healthy eating and tips in the front of the book are also very helpful when trying to know what to feed your family to keep them eating right. It’s like a mini class in nutrition

Review: This cook book is great with a wide variety of recipes. The recipes are easy enough to make and good enough for company. The recipes are not short on taste, you wouldn’t even guess you are eating healthy.Great recipes. I really enjoy the way the recipes are organized. It is easy to find ideas. So far, I have had several successes! I’ve always had more than a few extra pounds on my frame. So when then new year came around I decided, like a lot of people to make a resolution to lose weight. Well, I ordered this book and began following the recipies within and I have lost over 40 pounds within the last few months! Just remember no seconds
One thing that always kept me from eating “light” foods before was lack of taste, but here I have been delving through this book and have only found a single recipe that did not taste wonderful. The creaters of this book have done an excellent job of putting together recipes to help people begin eating right and losing weight. It is an amazing cookbook. I love it. It is really good for the person is counting or watching their calories. It is worth the money.I really enjoy using this book. My husband has been eating recipes from this book all week, and has loved everything. He doesn’t even know he’s eating healthy. I especially love that there are recipes for just two people or four people. That way I can cut them in half and not have too many leftovers. I also like the fact there is a time estimation for prep and cooking time, that way I can plan more time consuming recipes for the weekend and keep week nights quick and easy. I also find the nutritional information great so that I can keep my calories at a manageable level. It is a must for anyone training or watching what they eat. Even those like my husband who don’t like keeping track find the food delicious and like the variety of ethnic cuisines. If you like the magazine, then you will love the book or I should say binder

Review: I love this book. Packed with healthy kid (and adult) friendly recipes.
Good way to introduce cooking experiences to children. Teaching children to make healthy choices is a good way to prevent obsesity. This certianly has become a favorite of mine. Worth every penny. I gave this book to my granddaughter as a gift. It is the best kid’s cookbook I’ve ever seen. Unlike the recent Paula Deen book that encourages kids to cook high-calorie unhealthy foods, this book teaches children how to use healthy ingredients to make delicious food. It is filled with beautiful photos that kids love, nutritious foods that are good for growing bodies, and easy to make recipes that promote the joy of cooking. Combined with the field guide to food, “Feeding the Kids” Feeding the Kids: The Flexible, No-Battles, Healthy Eating System for the Whole Family (Fork and Spoon Field Guides) (Fork and Spoon Field Guides) the whole family can get on the road to LOVING to eat delicious foods that are pretty, bright, tasty and fun. I love this cookbook! I checked it out from the library and read it cover to cover trying some of the recipies. The recipies are healthy and the book teaches the how and why of healthy food. I am an experienced cook, and have been trying for the last few years to make healthier food for my family. A task easier said than done! This book has given me many good ideas and I have used it for my menu planning. My daughter is eight. She is already planning her career as a chef! This is her favorite cookbook so far and has helped her to want to try a few new ingredients and recipes. This cookbook is not for some one from a small town that does not have access to some of the food products needed to complete the recipe

Review: This book is full of great recipes whether you have diabetes or not. I have many many favorite recipes from this book. Most are easy to prepare.
Great book and I would highly recommend it. I bought this cookbook for my Mom who is a brittle type 2 diabetic who recently had a heart attack. I wanted to give her meal ideas so she doesn’t despair over having to limit her diet further b/c of her recent heart problems. I’ve only looked through it, I’m giving it to her today. But I’m really surprised at the sugar content in the recipes. I would expect 1-5 grams here & there but some of these recipes are really high. And if you are looking for a cook book that has some ideas for diabetic friendly desserts, this is not the book. Out of the 13 dessert recipes the sugar grams range from 4-26 grams; for an average grams of 12.5. I’m surprised & a bit disappointed.Great cookbook, especially if you are on a restrictive diet due to medical or health related circumstances. We have tried many of the dishes and have found them to be (well, almost to be) very excellent and both flavor, texture and taste. For the health benefits derived it is totally worth the effort.Recently purchased to cook some meals for a neighbor who’s wife passed away on Jan. 10, 2008. Was a huge help as he is diabetic and has heart disease. This book was fine, but I highly recommend the 30-Day Diabetes Miracle series for managing your diabetes and creating a whole new healthy lifestyle! It’s more in tune with “good carbs.”

Review: The book has a big variety of recipes. It has recipes for vegans and for the ultimate meat lovers. It provides basic knowledge for the kitchen and how to cook. The recipes for the most part are cheap and delectable. This book has gotten my 20 year old son to cook for himself! This is no small feat, and almost a miracle in itself. It not only has him preparing (and shopping for) his own meals, but he’s eating healthy and inexpensively, for the most part. Very happy with this purchase. I got this book for both my nephew & niece when they started college. It’s great for the beginning cook and all the ingredients are easy to find at any grocery. Even my nephew who was a “throw it in the micro” kid, made things out of it!i’ve made about three recipes so far after receiving it, and all of them turned out fine. the ingredients are all very inexpensive and can be found in a lot of supermarkets. the recipes are also really easy to follow. it lives up to its name. highly recommended :] I am a beginner cook who, as of about 3 months ago, only had cooking experience making scrambled eggs. I used to eat mostly cereal, sandwiches, canned soup, and frozen dinners, until I decided it was time to learn how to cook. I bought this book based on the reviews, and I have to agree with most of them. The recipes are VERY simple, which is great for beginners. If you have no cooking experience, this is the book for you.
Despite my lack of cooking experience, I am a huge food lover, and I tend to like really complex flavors and dishes. My only complaint is that the recipes in this book can be somewhat bland, but I kind of like this, because it allows me to improvise with different spices and really helps me learn more about cooking. I also love the beginning chapter, which describes many cooking spices and cooking techniques, and what spices go well with what types of meats and vegetables. I am finding that I use many of these recipes as starting points to create my own recipes. The fact that I can even say I am creating my own recipes is crazy to me, and this book has definitely helped me get to this point.

Review: I chose this book at a bookstore years ago wanting something simple and healthy. As a wife and new mother, I wanted to cook healthy, easy meals. I cannot say enough about this cookbook. Every meal I have made has been outstanding. It has gone beyond my expectations. Friends have asked me for recipes from it after having dinner at our home. I have also given this cookbook as a gift to family and friends. You will not be disappointed. Well worth the money.I think this is a great book for those who are either beginner cooks or those who like getting in and out of the kitchen as fast as possible, but end up with a good, decent, and edible meal. The ingredients are easy to get and its easy to substitute or not include some ingredients. Believe me… I am not one for the kitchen but my boyfriend loved the meals and actually thought I was a good cook!! I highly recommend this cookbook for fast, easy, good, and healthy meals. By the way, I have lost 10 pounds cooking at home. There are a lot of good receipes… The one thing that turned me off when i recieved it is that there are not pictures for every receipe. Might not be important to all people but very important to me. If you are like me and need lots of pictures.. probably not the book for you. But there are lots of healthy fast meals.I LOVE this book! The recipes are easy, inexpensive, and YUMMY! I gave it as a gift to two of my friends and my Mom and they all love it, too!Big fan of healthy cooking and have quite a healthy cookbook collection, my husband and i even rate the recipes with different colored stars after we try them. And this book we have put more gold stars in than all the others combined. It gives nutition info which is nice because my husband always asks, and the food actually tastes good. We havent found a bland or tasteless recipe yet!

Review: Hello…my name is Julie and I’m a cookbook addict. I absolutely adore cookbooks. I can spend hours looking through them. (That’s not to say that I cook a lot of things out of them, but I do enjoy flipping through recipes.) Needless to say, when I saw that the Fix-It and Enjoy-It cookbook series had a new healthy cookbook out FIX-IT AND ENJOY-IT! HEALTHY COOKBOOK: 400 GREAT STOVE-TOP and OVEN RECIPES by Phyllis Pellman Good, I just knew I had to take a peek.
If you are interested in a terrific cookbook with lots of healthy recipes, then you should definitely take a look at this one. There are so many yummy-sounding recipes that I made a huge list of recipes to try. I have to mention that almost all (if not all) of the recipes are very quick and easy to prepare which is a must for me since I’m always running my kids around during dinnertime. Since the cookbook is full of healthy recipes, I was thrilled to see that almost all of the ingredients are natural and easy to find — yet not out of a box or can. And I love that there is nutritional information for every recipe which makes it easy to calculate Weight Watcher points (when I’m so inclined.) I think the beauty of this cookbook is that the recipes are healthy without being difficult to make. It’s a perfect combination for busy mothers everywhere.
We have been really busy lately so I haven’t been trying a lot of new recipes the past few weeks, but I did want to try at least one before writing my review. I am a huge fan of baked oatmeal, and I thought it was pretty healthy. Well, the recipe my friend gave me has so much butter and cream in it that I would never knowingly eat it. This cookbook had a low-fat, healthy option for baked oatmeal that I decided to make for dinner one night when I was eating by myself (there is no way my husband and daughter would ever even try it.) I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the oatmeal was. I only wish I’d had a few blueberries to sprinkle over the top.
While I do really, really like this cookbook, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the one little drawback for me — there aren’t any pictures. Since I love to leaf through cookbooks, I always like seeing the colorful pictures and the finished products. Having said that, I still highly recommend FIX-IT and ENJOY-IT! HEALTHY COOKBOOK; just know that you will have to imagine how wonderful your dishes will look!It was a waste of money. I have other cookbook’s by this author which I really like-not this one! Tried 5-6 recipes found them all pretty tasteless. Unless you like really bland food, I wouldn’t recommend this.If you want to get more healthy bang for your buck at the supermarket and on the family table, look no further. This is a well-researched and well-rehearsed cookbook with healthy recipes that WORK. They are not loaded up with tons of obscure ingredients. In fact, everything is easily found in the most basic of supermarkets. These are real recipes by real people, adapted by experts to be healthful as well as delicious. There’s not much to say that hasn’t already been said, but I agree with other reviewers. This book is THE BEST healthy cookbook I have ever used and believe me I have tried many! There is no compromise in taste or appeal. I started ear marking pages until I realized I wanted to try them all. My daughter recommended it to me and I was hooked. Go for it!The back of this book boasts, “Yes, it is possible to combine tasty, quick, and healthy!” We’ll see about that. This cookbook comes from the Mayo Clinic, so I really didn’t hold out much hope that it would offer much in the form of “healthy” recipes-and it held true to form! They might be tasty recipes for the stove top and oven, but it’s because they are LOADED with carbohydrates. It’s all about limiting the fat, cutting the calories, and eating tons and tons of carbs for your health. YIKES! We shouldn’t be surprised to see this from the Mayo Clinic, but it’s a real shame to see low-fat recipes dominate a cookbook when there is just as much (if not more!) compelling evidence in favor of low-carb being healthy, too. I guess you don’t get to have that option if you listen to the Mayo Clinic.
