Review: Dang, I was really hoping this book would have more “meat” and potato recipes, you’d think right?!? Why are there so many desserts and salads? I’ll admit the Fresh Strawberry Pie sounds good, especially being raw and all, but gosh darn it! I wanted like mounds of seitan recipes, cutlets, lots of burgers and recipes on just about every way to prepare potatoes..hey, there’s only one red potato recipe!?! Robin Robertson’s cookbooks are great, I love Vegan Fire & Spice, but this book wells up a few tears… I love a vegetarian option once in a while for a healthier meal, but I’m not always so hot on everything tofu based. This recipe book is great because it combines tofu meals with vegetable meals, so you can really find something to your liking.I received this cookbook as a gift about six years ago, and I have almost worn the poor thing out. It’s without a doubt my favorite cookbook that I have (and I have many), and I use it several times a week. At this point I have several of our favorite recipes memorized.

Regardless of whether or not you’re a vegetarian (my husband is not), this book is a must have.I loved my meat and potatoes before I became vegetarian and this is a great book to try and bring back all my original favorites in a more humane way. A lot of fun, really well written, a great addition to any chef’s collection - meat eater and vegetarian alike!I own a lot of vegan cookbooks and have owned this for quite a few years. This is the cookbook I use the most and the one I always refer to when trying to think up something new to cook. The recipes are very easy and always delicious….

Highly recommended….I wish there were a Meat and Potatoes II book–that is how much I like and I use this one.
