Review: Many great food ideas. Some of the portions described were hard to find in local supermarkets but, nonetheless, we were able to adjust to fit what we had. A lot of the recipes we’ve found are now mainstays in our meals. Dishes are quick and easy. I wish there were pictures of the dishes in the book. You have to add your own touch of flavor. This cookbook is a great choice for the family wanting to either expand their menus or find nutritious vegetarian choices. Most of the recipes are easily adapted, have options/choices to make additional dishes and most are kid-friendly. A great addition to our collection and helpful with a newly vegetarian teenager. Lots of interesting twists on old favorites. Well written with easy to follow instructions. My one year old son likes the recipes and so do my husband and I!As a family that eats very little meat, this cookbook has really done wonders for us! Directions are simple, recipes are great for everyday use, and we have yet to make something we haven’t loved! I highly recommend it, and other books by Nava Atlas. She knows a lot about cooking for families.
Many books on vegetarian cooking are so pretentious! Who has time to make something that takes three hours and requires a culinary degree, not to mention exotic (and expensive) ingredients? Also, just because something is vegetarian does not mean it is healthy. Nava takes care of all of this with easy to make, quick meals that include ingredients that most households already use and have. Also, she keeps the fat content down, and lists nutritional information for each recipe.
Great book for vegetarians and omnivores alike!
